Cliff Taylor, Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court

Cliff Taylor has been Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court for 3 years, having been elected to that position by his colleagues in January 2005 and 2007. Prior to being selected as Chief, Cliff Taylor served as a Justice of the Court for 7 years.
 
As Chief Justice, Cliff Taylor is responsible for administering and directing the work of the Supreme Court and its staff. He is also the presiding Justice and spokesperson for the Court. As the Michigan Chief Justice, Cliff is a member of the Conference of Chief Justices of the United States and served a term on its Board of Directors.
 
Chief Justice Cliff Taylor has over 15 years of Michigan appellate judicial experience. After 21 years as a practicing attorney, Cliff was appointed to the Michigan Court of Appeals in March 1992. He won election to a full 6-year term in November 1992.

In September 1997, Cliff was appointed to the Michigan Supreme Court, standing for election to the balance of that term in November 1998. He was re-elected to a full 8-year term in 2000.

This November, Chief Justice Cliff Taylor is standing for reelection to the Michigan Supreme Court.
