Dear Washtenaw Republicans -
 
One of the Democrats' prime targets this election year is Clifford Taylor, Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court.  It is critical for Michigan that Chief Justice Taylor be re-elected this year.
 
The Michigan Supreme Court has come to be recognized nationally as one of the finest courts in the land.  Chief Justice Taylor, along with Justices Corrigan, Markman, and Young, form a philosophical majority that understand that the proper role of the judiciary is a limited one, and is not to legislate an outcome based on their personal views.
 
Cliff Taylor was appointed to the Michigan Supreme Court in 1997 by Governor Engler, was re-elected in 1998, and again in 2000.  He was twice chosen by his fellow justices to be the Chief Justice, in 2005 and 2007.
 
Although the Democrats have not yet chosen their nominee, they are likely to work hard to unseat Chief Justice Taylor, and to be well funded in that effort.
 
Please find attached an Invitation to a Tuesday, July 15, 2008 Reception with Chief Justice Taylor, hosted by myself and a committee of other supporters.  The Reception will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Ann Arbor office of Dykema Gossett, located at 2723 South State Street.
