  1. Sneak Sneak Sneak

Now comes the ballot initiative to re-write the Michigan Constituition.

Michigan voters are being asked to sign a petition, called the 'Reform Michigan Government Now' referendum - But it is partisan.  Few petition circulators even know what the petition is asking - the circulators are simply stating it "cuts costs"  and representing the multi-page doc as that.

And the instigators of the petition will not reveal themselves.

Well the Detroit News writes has something to say about this http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080622/OPINION03/806220309/1271/OPINION01

The last line sums it well   "But this drive to enshrine a partisan advantage in the Constitution is the slimiest I've seen. "

This is what Republicans must deal with.

  2. Cliff Taylor, current Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court

Cliff Taylor was appointed to the Michigan Supreme Court in 1997 by Governor Engler, ran for re-election in 1998, and again in 2000. He was chosen by his fellow justices to be the Chief Justice twice, in 2005 and 2007.

This November, Chief Justice Cliff Taylor is campaigning for reelection to the Michigan Supreme Court.  His website can be found here.
